20 years of ADELI Medical Center and 10 years of the ADELI Foundation

An extraordinary project called ADELI Medical Center began 20 years ago. In the beginning, it was a rehabilitation center that was different from anything known in our region. The neurorehabilitation center was based on the method of dynamic proprioceptive correction and introduced the ADELI suit, a special dynamic orthosis, as its central therapeutic tool. Today, 20 years later, we can see that the ADELI Medical Center has developed into an international neurorehabilitation center with an excellent reputation at home and abroad.

Around 2,000 patients visit our center every year. They come here for rehabilitation treatment following strokes, head injuries and neurodegenerative diseases. Over the years, the BabyMed department for the youngest patients has also established itself at the highest level. BabyMed helps infants and toddlers alleviate or completely eliminate the consequences of risky development.

In two decades, patients have completed a total of 20,000 rehabilitation stays here, often several times. 200 employees work together to ensure the best possible performance and improvement of patients health condition.

One of the undeniable advantages of ADELI Medical Center is its readiness to accept completely non-verbal and immobile patients, patients with incontinence, as well as patients with tracheostomy.

In addition to the medical staff, is also available to patients on daily bases the hotel and restaurant team, customer service team, Kinds Club staff, and other helping hands. Each medical or administrative staff member offers support and assistance to the patient. The centre is known for its individual approach, discipline and distinctive family atmosphere.

Successes are not only a record of the past, but above all a major commitment of the ADELI Medical Center to its patients for the future.

Celebrations and a look into the future

On a beautiful August Sunday, the ADELI garden was transformed into the venue for the anniversary celebrations. It was time for a get-together with ADELI partners, supporters and media representatives in a relaxed atmosphere. The company was entertained by live music with the melodies of ABBA hits. A culinary highlight was the presence of world barbecue champion Adi Bittermann. Everyday life as well as moments of joy confirm the fact that common themes, hobbies and passions bring people closer together. Of course, beautiful interpersonal relationships are no substitute for therapy, but they have a strong relaxing and regenerating effect, similar to strenuous physiotherapy.

To mark its 20th anniversary, ADELI Medical Center is organizing a series of interesting events. They are intended both for patients in Piešťany and for supporters in almost 70 countries worldwide. Whether on site or online, patients are offered many competitions with attractive prizes. The aim is to give patients with mobility impairments what they are missing: the opportunity to engage, participate, interact and thus recharge their batteries and zest for life! The word "inclusion" tries to fulfill the ADELI Medical Center through actions. The center's noticeable effort is to cultivate society on topics related to neurological diagnoses and to gain not only financial but also moral support for patients.

One of the ADELI Medical Center's efforts is to make accessible to patients what their illness has taken away from them, such as going to restaurants. In its anniversary year, the center is enriching the stays of patients and their families with a series of ADELICIOUS events. Peter Slačka, later Jaroslav Žídek and most recently Adi Bittermann have further improved ADELI's culinary offer, which is already of a high quality. A special highlight of the events are the live music performances. Good food and a pleasant atmosphere delight body and soul and fill them with strength and joy.

One of ADELI's philosophies is the discovery and promotion of people's abilities, regardless of their motor or cognitive limitations. The attempt to involve the international patient group in the UNIQUE PAINTINGS project represents a unique organizational challenge that has met with a great response. This is the fourth time that ADELI patients have painted unique pictures together with professional artists. This time, the ADELI Foundation plans to create a calendar for the year 2025 with the pictures, and an online auction of the unique paintings will take place before Christmas 2024.

This is also the fourth year of the Strihací Maratón (Haircutting Marathon), an event organized in collaboration with Wella Professionals. On September 29, 15 top hairdressers will use their skills to support two ADELI patients. The Strihací Maratón, subtitled THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP, will last 9 hours. Annually, the patience, perseverance, and endurance of hairdressers symbolize the principle of help, in this effective way: only through regular support we can achieve systematic improvement of health.

TANCUJ, TANCUJ, NESEĎ V KÚTE (Dance, dance, don't sit in the corner) is dance collaborative project. Here, ADELI patients and the dancers from SĽUK (Slovenský ľudový umelecký kolektív) meet on stage. The premiere of this dance performance will take place on October 29, 2024 in Dom Umenia theatre in Piešťany. The idea for this project arose from the desire for genuine inclusion and the active participation of patients in creative processes that offer them valuable experiences both personally and socially. The conviction of the participants' dancing skills and strong will stems from their enthusiasm, which they had showen in ADELI during their dance lessons, that are offered as a form of therapy.
