Innovative approaches for holistic neurorehabilitation

Discover customized complementary therapies at ADELI Medical Center that enrich neurorehabilitative treatment with creative, sensory and innovative approaches and support individual recovery processes.

Let me introduce you to the complementary therapies that expand the spectrum at ADELI Medical Center and support and strengthen the effect of neurorehabilitative treatment on the human organism. Their effect lies in a more precise targeting of the problem area, improved oxygen supply, blood circulation and the stimulation of functional recovery. All complementary therapies are suitable for both children and adults and, apart from the exceptions mentioned, have no contraindications. Their use should be discussed with a doctor before the rehabilitation stay, but at the latest during the first medical examination. The suitability of the therapies can also be assessed during the final examination when planning the therapeutic goals for the next stay.

HBOT - Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

In addition to sessions in the hyperbaric chamber, the hyperbaric oxygen therapy department also offers comprehensive medical advice on the suitability of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and individual advice on the specific benefits for your health condition.

Oxygen therapy in the hyperbaric chamber is suitable for the treatment of patients with many acute and chronic diseases. You can find a list of diseases at www.oxymed.sk.
Principle: Oxygen is inhaled through a mask in an environment with altered chamber pressure, whereby the pressure in the chamber is comparable to the depth of 12 meters below the water surface. Specially prepared medical oxygen is thus transported to areas of the body that would not be accessible under normal pressure. The effect of the therapy is an improvement in cell metabolism and thus an improvement in organ function. The therapy is preceded by a consultation with our doctor and a very brief ENT examination (available at ADELI).

Cognitive therapies

The cognitive development department promotes the cognitive functions of the brain. It improves attention, memory and language, as well as gross and fine motor skills.

Therapy with elements of art therapy

In therapy, we develop communication skills and the ability for self-expression and self-reflection. The therapy supports the neurorehabilitative treatment at ADELI by working with creative techniques aimed at artistic expression. We paint, draw and sculpt. We do not emphasize artistic achievement, but rather a safe environment in which patients can process their experiences verbally and visually. The patient develops their ability to express their needs, feelings and motivations. The therapy helps to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. It promotes the ability to concentrate, perseverance, memory and ultimately the ability to learn.

Sensorimotor therapy

Sensorimotor therapy uses elements of integrative therapy. It promotes the patient's ability to process sensory stimuli, i.e. the process in which the brain processes, sorts and organizes sensory stimuli from the external and internal environment. It stimulates concentration, interactivity, cooperation and helps with spatial orientation. The therapy also works on improving gross and fine motor skills, the ability to move and dexterity and overall visual-motor coordination. By improving sensory perception in the areas of vestibular, proprioceptive and tactile sensation, perception of the outside world is improved and reactions to this environment are better coordinated. Hand in hand with the development of these functions, communication skills, the ability to interact and play are also improved and the patient's socialization is stimulated.

Brain feedback

The therapy aims to train (self-learn) the brain through feedback, while the patient receives precise and targeted information about the activity of the brain waves and learns how to balance them. The result is that the brain learns in a playful way to use its abilities and capacity more efficiently, i.e. with less energy expenditure. It is about "training" better control of the organism. During therapy, the client wears two ear electrodes and one head electrode. A specialized computer program is used during the therapy. As a result, we see an improvement in cognitive abilities, a reduction in tension, an improvement in concentration, attention, endurance and motivation for therapy.

Kineziofeedback

Intensive repetitive exercises as part of the rehabilitation program promote neuroplasticity and the development of new neural connections in the brain and restore impaired motor functions necessary to perform activities of daily living. The activities are aimed at increasing range of motion, balance, posture, muscle strength and coordination. The repetition of training has an impact on increasing endurance, i.e. the length of possible exercise activity, increasing the possibility of repeating movements of the upper and lower extremities. The effect of the therapy is better bilateral coordination, flexibility, muscle strength, speed of movement and less need for breaks between exercises. However, the exercises also improve short-term memory, speech production, reaction time and attention.

Canister therapy

Did you know that dogs have a calming effect on people and that blood pressure drops when they are around? Dogs also promote communication and thus dispel depressive moods. The therapy with our gentle and considerate dog called "Arrow" has already found many supporters.

Music therapy

Music is the language of the soul and our music therapist will help you to discover this new dimension. Listening to music has a relaxing effect and playing an instrument has a rehabilitative effect. With music therapy we harmonize our autonomic functions, stress levels, heartbeat, breathing and at the same time playing an instrument gives us the opportunity to improve our motor functions, control movements and breathing. As our perception is not only expanded but also sensitized, music therapy also has a stimulating effect on cognitive functions.

Emotional and psychological support

Psychologist

Life's burdens are heavier when they are not shared. Mgr. Martin Vetrík is our mental health and well-being expert, with several years of experience with clients and patients in various settings and certified training in crisis intervention, coaching and other additional training. Whether it is about finding sources of energy or you need support for better quality relationships, do not hesitate to inquire about the possibility of an individual meeting with our psychologist.

Innovative therapeutic devices that combine exercises and the perception of instructions through the virtual reality environment

ICAROS Health

The ICAROS Health device is a special device that activates the central nervous system through the illusion of flying and other sports. ICAROS Health is a platform for training involving video games, intended for core body training and balance for orthopaedic patients suffering from non-specific lumbar pain, for post-stroke patients in the recovery phase and partly for patients with cerebral palsy. The aim is to actively mobilize the patient's trunk and limbs and improve posture. The result of the exercises on the ICAROS equipment is a reduction in the risk of falling, an improvement in the perception of body position, an improvement in sensory perception as well as fine and gross motor skills. The device is easy to adjust and can be adapted to the patient's individual needs.

ICAROS Guardian

ICAROS Guardian is a platform for training involving video games. Standing on a special platform, the client watches a screen in front of them and controls the action on the screen by developing their own movements. The aim is to restore and strengthen balance, body coordination and stability and to improve walking. Training on an unstable surface can be a particularly effective challenge for patients with movement restrictions. The ICAROS Guardian system combines ease of use with maximum safety and a playful element. ICAROS Guardian also offers a fully equipped balance training system for users who require additional support during training. With ICAROS Guardian, users improve body coordination, balance and reflexes in a fun, safe and effective way.

The multifunctional therapeutic unit UGUL, also known as SPIDER

The hanging system strengthens the muscles in different body positions with the help of weights. The correct movement pattern for each limb is thus consolidated in the brain. The workout stresses specific muscle groups, building muscle tone and strength in the extremities, trunk, neck and head muscles. By utilizing the resistance of the weights and eliminating the resistance of the support in the suspension system, muscle groups can be trained that would otherwise remain untrained.

All complementary therapies are an ideal extension of the ADELI therapy programs and can be recommended based on the patient's ability and stamina to satisfactorily complete the basic programs. On request, our assistants will be happy to provide you with further information on the content and prices of the therapies mentioned!
