The film "Tanz, tanz, sitz nicht in der Ecke" ("Tancuj, tancuj, neseď v kúte", SK, 29 minutes) offers a unique look at the collaboration between professional dancers from the Slovenský ľudový umelecký kolektív (SĽUK) and people with physical or mental disabilities from the Nadácia ADELI.
Under the artistic direction of Stanislav Marišler, artistic director of SĽUK, and choreographer Marek Grega, the idea of an inclusive dance production takes shape step by step. Director Jaro Vojtek and cameraman Ivo Miko accompany the protagonists from the first cautious movements to the grand joint stage finale.
The camera not only captures the dancers' development, but also moments full of uncertainty, determination, enthusiasm and the discovery of their own abilities. The film shows an unadulterated creative process in which dance is transformed into a space of extraordinary courage, a path to a longed-for world of "normality".
The emotional and social context is explored in greater depth in the insightful commentary by Austrian neurologist and scientist Prof. Dr. Heinrich Binder, medical advisor to the ADELI Medical Center. He locates the efforts of neurorehabilitation as part of a broader social initiative to create living spaces that enable all people to have a "good everyday life".
The documentary culminates in a joint performance by the professional dancers of SĽUK and the patients of the ADELI Foundation. The result is a work that shows what becomes possible when respect, time and empathy take center stage: a new, powerful signal of inclusion in action in Slovakia.
