This approach, developed by Dr. Peter Scheer together with Dr. Marguerite Dunitz-Scheer, shows very concrete results in practice in the treatment of feeding and eating disorders in children. As part of ADELI, Eva Kerschischnik and Peter Scheer conducted individual consultations and presented the "PlayPicnic" concept, which represented an important turning point for many parents. This is not about "normal eating" in the classic sense, but about an approach to eating that is oriented towards the development of the respective child, often in very unusual ways. For children with severe developmental delays, a classic expert model often does not work. Instead, this approach relies on partnership, respect, and an open dialogue with the families. It is also important to give children freedom in dealing with food, even if that means they get sticky or eat in a "messy" way. The goal is not perfect behavior, but a safe, positive relationship with food. Parents are seen as the most important experts for their own child. Their experience and intuition are a central part of the therapeutic process. The philosophy of "patient at the center" here means genuine cooperation, dignity, and trust: not just a buzzword. This is precisely why this approach by Peter Scheer and Eva Kerschischnik has resonated greatly with many families: professional competence and humility go hand in hand here.
