ICAROS Health and ICAROS Guardian

ICAROS is a modern rehabilitation and training system that combines physical training with virtual reality. On an unstable platform, targeted movements are integrated into an interactive VR experience to specifically promote balance, coordination, and motor control.

ICAROS Health is a VR-based training and rehabilitation device for neuro- and orthopedic rehab. It is a prone, tiltable training platform on which patients train as if in a 'flight position' and control movements via virtual reality games.

What is ICAROS Guardian?

ICAROS Guardian is a professional, VR-supported balance and stability training system for rehab and therapy. A safe standing and balance training device with handles and a platform, it combines physiotherapeutic training and interactive games (gamification). It is used primarily in neuro- and orthopedic rehabilitation, e.g., after a stroke. It trains balance, coordination, reaction, and core stability.

How does ICAROS work?

The main element of ICAROS Guardian is an ergonomic movement device on which the patient is positioned horizontally. By shifting body weight and changing hand position, interaction with the simulated virtual environment is made possible.

Why ICAROS for neurorehabilitation?

  • Muscle strengthening and balance: ICAROS provides active mobilization of the trunk and limbs, strengthens muscles and improves balance.
  • Motivation and engagement: The immersive VR experience increases motivation and interest in therapeutic exercises.
  • Customizable therapy: With adjustable movement angles and modularity, therapies can be customized to meet the needs of each patient.
  • Expansion of cognitive abilities: By immersing themselves in different scenarios, such as flying in a spaceship or driving a sports car, patients can train their sensory perception as well as their fine and gross motor skills.

We at the ADELI Medical Center are proud to offer ICAROS as part of our therapy offerings and are convinced of the benefits it will bring to our patients in their rehabilitation.
