ADELI: Rare diseases are not rare here

At ADELI Medical Center, we see rare syndromes and genetic diseases daily. Each individual diagnosis is rare, but as a group, rare diseases are anything but rare.

Every day at ADELI, we witness the tremendous dedication of parents of babies, children, and adolescents, as well as older children, who are committed to ensuring the best possible development and quality of life for their children. And patients often collect diagnoses like trading cards, still waiting for the one shining diagnosis that explains everything :)

The long road to diagnosis

Statistics show that patients in Europe wait an average of 4 to 5 years for a correct diagnosis. Many families go through a "diagnostic odyssey" with numerous misdiagnoses, examinations, and attempts at treatment. This is precisely where the feeling arises of "collecting diagnoses like trading cards" without ever receiving an explanation that makes everything understandable.

Therapy: Progress and limitations

Only about 5% of rare diseases have a specific approved treatment. Nevertheless, much has changed in the last two decades, particularly through international registries, genetic research, and specialized centers. Databases such as Orphanet help to pool knowledge and enable faster diagnoses.

The ADELI Medical Center plays a crucial role in the quality of life of affected families as a rehabilitation and therapy center. Our goal is to achieve the best possible development of muscles, motor skills, and cognitive and communicative abilities. We work together with families to fight against time, stimulate neuroplasticity, promote the maturation of the neural system, and counteract dysfunction as much as possible ...

What statistics cannot show is the daily performance of families:
intensive therapies, emotional stress, organizational challenges
and, at the same time, unshakeable hope.

Why visibility is important

From the perspective of the ADELI Medical Center , every small functional improvement makes a huge difference and proves that the effort is worthwhile.
